The Fourth Cross-Strait Academic Conference of Accounting----Accounting Standards, Internal Control and Corporate Governance founded by the Accounting Society of China and Taiwan Chengchi University was held on the morning of September 24, 2012. The conference is co-sponsored by Finance Bureau of Xiamen (Institute for Cooperation and Communication with Taiwan), the Center for Accounting Studies, Accounting Department and Institute for Financial and Accounting Studies of Xiamen University, the Xiamen National Accounting Institute, and organized by Xiamen Net in Net Software Limited Company. More than 100 papers submitted to the conference, subject to the review, 55 papers were finally accepted by presentations, 20 of them were presented by Taiwan scholars.
Professor Jianfa Li, Vice president of Xiamen University hosted the opening ceremony. Mrs. Shulian Jin, Director of Accounting Society of China, Professor Dingwang Zheng, former president of Taiwan Chengchi University, Professor Liping Deng, Vice President of Xiamen Municipal PCC, Director of Xiamen National Accounting Institute, Mr. Guangzhong Liu, Secretary-General of Accounting Society of China, Vice Director of Accounting Department in Finance Ministry, Mr. Xiaoping Zhang, Vice Director of Financial Bureau of Fujian Province, Mr. Weizhong Cai, Vice Director of Government Office of Xiamen Municipal, Mr. Jianzao Lin, Vice Director of Financial Bureau of Xiamen and the 147 participants from the mainland and Taiwan of China attended this conference. On behalf of Fujian Province, Xiamen and Xiamen National Accounting Institute, President Deng expressed his congratulations on the opening of this conference. President Deng suggested that there is a wide range space to cooperate across the strait in accounting field, and the influence of accounting communication has become more and more profound. This conference contributes to the promotion of accounting communication and the institutionalization of economic cooperation across the strait. Professor Dingwang Zheng, former president of Taiwan Chengchi University addressed that this conference can not only share the scholar’s research achievement across the strait, but also communicate with each other and established a deep friendship in research across the strait which is more important. Mrs. Shulian Jin, Director of Accounting Society of China addressed the opening ceremony. Director Jin expressed her affirmative evaluation on the achievements about the accounting communication across the strait. He also hopes that along with the accumulation of experience in accounting communication and the improvement of communication mechanism, the accounting communication will play a more important role in the economic development across the strait.
