2018 Annual Academic Conference of Chinese Management Accounting Professors ended successfully at Xiamen University

On December 1, 2018, the Annual Academic Conference of Chinese Management Accounting Professors sponsored by the Accounting Development Research Center of Xiamen University was successfully held in Xiamen University. Famous scholars and doctoral students from Peking University, Sun Yat-sen University, Fuzhou University, Jinan University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Renmin University of China, University of International Business and Economics, Capital University of Economics and Business, Nanjing University of Science and Technology and Zhengzhou Institute of Aeronautical Industry Management attended the meeting.

Professor Chen Yasheng presided over the opening ceremony of the conference, and Professor Fu Yuanlve, deputy director of Accounting Development Research Center of Xiamen University, gave a welcoming speech. On behalf of the Accounting Development Research Center of Xiamen University, Professor Fu Yuanlve welcomed the participants and encouraged them to interact and communicate actively. Professor Fu Yuanlve said that Xiamen University is the birthplace of Chinese management accounting, and Professor Yu Xuying, as the pioneer and founder of Chinese management accounting, has a profound influence on the development of Chinese management accounting. Professor Yu's idea of "analyzing the past, controlling the present and planning the future" is still the basic guideline of management accounting. Professor Fu also encouraged young professors to add vitality to the development of Xiamen University's management accounting, and to maintain and carry forward the precious tradition and influence of Xiamen University's accounting.

In the theme report stage of the conference, Professor Fu Yuanlve gave a report entitled Intelligent MA Theory and Accounting Agent Theory, which made an in-depth exposition and analysis from five aspects: "why should we study intelligent management accounting theory", "the influence of business process automation on management accounting", "the establishment of intelligent management accounting theory and accounting agent", "the docking of management accounting theory and AI", "accounting ability framework and accounting reform". At the end of the report, Professor Fu Yuanlve expressed the hope that everyone would pay attention to this and finally have an impact on the global accounting theory research.

Then the conference entered the stage of paper report. In the morning of December 1st, two papers were reported, which were presided over by Professor Chen Yasheng. At first, professor Jiang Wei from Jinan university gave a report on the theme of  Government ownership, non-CEO top executives' horizontal pay dispersion and firm performance, and discussed two issues: "whether the ownership structure affects the level pay gap of non-CEO executives" and "how does this level pay gap affect company performance". Commentator Professor Chen Lei put forward many precious opinions on the article from the perspective of the positioning and data of the paper. Subsequently, Dr. Ji Yu from Guanghua School of Management, Peking University gave a report entitled Managers' Characteristics and Budget Management Cognition to discuss the influence of personal characteristics such as competence, participation experience and training intensity on budget management cognition. Commentator Professor Jiang Wei put forward pertinent questions and suggestions from three aspects: variable design, test and result interpretation. The atmosphere at the meeting was lively.

The conference report in the afternoon of December 1st was divided into two sessions. In the first half, Professor Tang Guliang from University of International Business and Economics presided over two papers. First, Wu Qian, a student from Zhengzhou Institute of Aeronautical Industry Management, gave a report entitled OPM, Strategic Transformation of Housing Enterprises and Enterprise Performance. The report discusses whether and how OPM affects the transformation of real estate enterprises under the background of the transformation of real estate enterprises under the new economic normal. Then Xie Sujuan, a teacher from Sun Yat-sen University, brought a report entitled Imitation Effect of Executive Equity Incentive Contract in Chain Director Relationship and Its Restricting Factors, and discussed the imitation effect of cross-regional and cross-industry chain directors' social interaction and equity incentive implementation. Dr. Wang Yi and Professor Ji Li respectively made targeted and wonderful comments on the two papers.

In the second half, Professor Jiang Wei of Jinan University presided over the meeting, and three papers were reported. Professor Jili from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Dr. Xu Xin from Xiamen University and Mr. Zhang Shouwen from Capital University of Economics and Business, respectively, are entitled Is the enterprise award only a non-monetary award?—— Based on the Empirical Evidence of Chinese Listed Companies, The Impact of Monetary Incentives on Creativity: Insights from An FMRI Study and Can EVA Evaluation Index Improve the Main Business Performance of Central Enterprises, and made enthusiastic and wonderful comments on the report papers. Finally, Professor Jiang Wei, the host, thanked all the participants again, and the agenda of the meeting ended on December 1.

In the morning of December 2nd, the paper report was divided into two sessions. In the first half, two papers were reported, and the meeting was presided over by Professor Jili of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. Huang Lianqin, a teacher from Fuzhou University, gave a report entitled Product Market Competition, Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility Investment —— Based on the Comparative Study of Listed Companies between Fujian and Taiwan. During the discussion, Professor Chen Yasheng and Professor Liu Yunguo pointed out that the article can focus on the differences between the regulatory systems of Fujian and Taiwan to deeply discuss the differences of corporate social responsibility investment between the two places. Dr. Lihui gave a report on the theme of Corporate Environmental Culture, Environmental Management and Financial Performance, and Professor Liu Yunguo, Professor Tang Guliang and Professor Jili made wonderful comments respectively.

Two papers were reported in the second half, and the meeting was presided over by Professor Chen Lei of Peking University. First of all, Dr. Liu Mengning from Sun Yat-sen University gave a report on Does economic policy uncertainty affect the performance target ratchet?. The reviewer, Dai Lu from Renmin University of China, affirmed the tedious manual data collection process of the thesis, and mainly put forward suggestions on hypothesis and empirical research. During the discussion, Professor Tang Guliang, Professor Chen Yasheng and Professor Chen Lei also put forward suggestions on the thesis one after another. In the last part of the paper report, Teacher Dai Lu gave a report on Incentive or Rent-seeking? Exploration of Executive Subscription Behavior in Employee Stock Ownership Plan. This paper discusses whether the high proportion of executive subscription behavior in Employee Stock Ownership Plan produces rent-seeking effect, incentive effect, welfare effect or both. Professor Liu Yunguo, the reviewer, gave great affirmation to the topic selection and writing of the thesis, and his colleagues also put forward many valuable suggestions for the thesis.

After each paper report, the participants made a further heated discussion on the paper and its related topics. Teachers and students attending the meeting expressed their opinions, which further enlightened the paper reporters and teachers and students attending the meeting.

Professor Chen Yasheng presided over the award ceremony. According to the scores and rankings of the participating experts, this conference produced three excellent papers. The first prize was won by professor Chen Yasheng's The Impact of Monetary Incentives on Creativity: Insights from An FMRI Study. Government Ownership, Non-CEO Top Executives' Horizontal Pay Dispersion and Firm Performance by professor Jiang Wei's team and Incentive or Rent-seeking? Exploration of Executive Subscription Behavior in Employee Stock Ownership Plan reported by teacher Dai Lu won the second prize at the same time. At the meeting, Ma Jianjun, general manager of Shandong Inspur Zhuyuan Education Technology Co., Ltd. presented the award certificates to the winners.

After the awarding session, Ma Jianjun, manager of Inspur Zhuyuan Company, brought a sharing titled Shared Finance in the New Era. In the speech, Ma Jianjun gave a brief introduction to Inspur Group and its smart enterprise business, and vividly presented new financial work scenes such as "smart mobile accounting" and "robot intelligent report docking" in the form of video. At the end of the speech, Ma put forward some suggestions on the teaching reform and innovation of accounting major courses, and thought that every course should make full use of new technologies to keep pace with the times.

At the end of the meeting, Professor Chen Yasheng expressed his gratitude for the support of universities and colleges, and looked forward to everyone meeting again in Beijing next year. So far, this meeting has come to a successful conclusion.
