On September 25-26, the 2022 Academic Annual Conference of the Management Accounting Professional Committee of the Accounting Society of China and the centennial commemoration of the birth of Professor Yu Xuying were held in Xiang'an Campus of Xiamen University, with a total of 115 experts and scholars, practical professionals, representatives of journal publishing units, teachers and students from many well-known universities across the country attending the event. The conference was also livestreamed and attracted more than 12,500 online views. The conference was hosted by the Management Accounting Professional Committee of the Accounting Society of China and the School of Management of Xiamen University, and jointly organized by the Management Accounting Research Center of Xiamen University, the Accounting Development Research Center of Xiamen University and the Department of Accountancy of Xiamen University.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Li Jianfa, former Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the School of Management of Xiamen University. First of all, the participants reviewed the outstanding life of Professor Yu Xuying through a video to commemorate his outstanding contributions to the development of accounting in China.

In his speech, Professor Zhang Zongyi, President of Xiamen University, expressed his warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the participants on behalf of Xiamen University, and briefly introduced the long history and profound heritage of accounting discipline of Xiamen University, and praised Professor Yu Xuying for his outstanding contributions to the construction and development of management accounting discipline in China. He said that inheriting and carrying forward the scientific spirit and academic style embodied in Professor Yu Xuying is of great significance to jointly explore the new development and application of modern management accounting, serve regional development and national strategy. He pointed out that it is necessary to take Professor Yu Xuying as an example, strive to cultivate high-level accounting talents for economic and social development, and contribute to the development of accounting disciplines in China. It is hoped that through this academic event, together with industry experts and colleagues, we will seize the opportunity, keep the right innovation, jointly explore the new development and new application of modern management accounting, and continue to advance the cause that the older generation such as Professor Yu Xuying has fought for.

Zhu Guangyao, counselor of the State Council, former member of the leading party group and vice minister of the Ministry of Finance, deputy director of the Office of the Central Financial and Economic Leading Group, and president of the Accounting Society of China, delivered a speech via video link. He said that the Management Accounting Professional Committee of the Accounting Society of China is innovative and courageous, and has achieved fruitful results, making important contributions to the improvement of the international influence of management accounting in China. Professor Yu Xuying's lifelong pursuit and exploration have left rich research results for future generations, and his spirit will also inspire comrades present to innovate and move forward.

Gu Huizhong, former deputy general manager, chief accountant, member of the Party Group, vice president of the Accounting Society of China and director of the Management Accounting Professional Committee of the Accounting Society of China said Mr. Yu Xuying is the pioneer and founder of management accounting in China, and has made indelible contributions to the establishment and development of management accounting in China. He hoped that the guests would learn from Mr. Yu Xuying's spirit of adhering to the combination of introduction and going out, based on China's management practice, upright and innovative, teaching and educating people to serve the development of the motherland, so that the theoretical research and practical application of China's management accounting will enter a new stage.

Professor Du Xingqiang, Dean of the Department of Accounting, School of Management, Xiamen University, pointed out that Professor Yu Xuying was one of the earliest scholars in China to introduce and develop Western accounting theory, and the relevant academic ideas are still shining today in order to make the Department of Accounting of Xiamen University an important academic center in China. The best way to remember Professor Yu Xuying is to inherit and carry forward his academic ideas.

This year, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor Yu Xuying and the 101st anniversary of the birth of Professor Ge Jiashu, the ceremony of laying a basket of flowers was held in front of the bronze statues of the two masters to commemorate their outstanding contributions to the development of accounting in China, expressing high respect and deep remembrance. The ceremony was presided over by Qiu Qixing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Management of Xiamen University.

The event was hosted by the Management Accounting Professional Committee of the Accounting Society of China and the School of Management of Xiamen University, with the theme of "Modern Management Accounting Empowers Enterprise Organization and Social and Economic Development". Experts with a high reputation in academia or practical circles gave 10 keynote speeches and reports from the perspectives of business transformation and development in the digital intelligence era, management accounting talent training, practical application of management accounting concepts, and promotion of sustainable development of enterprises, focusing on the development trend of digital technology in the new era, combined with the application practice of leading enterprises, and expounded the thinking on how management accounting can serve the development of the new era.
