In sept 23rd , Xiamen University witnessed the opening of the fourth professional training of accounting leading experts from Jiangsu province, the whole training lasted for three days. This training was undertaken by the Center for Accounting Studies of Xiamen University. Themed on current frontier issues in accounting, the center arranged various training courses of high quality.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Feng Liu from the Center for Accounting Studies delivered a speech. Professor Liu expressed his sincere welcome to the trainees from Jiangsu Province, and gave a brief introduction to the development of accounting department of Xiamen University and the training courses in the following days. Topics of this training courses not only covers cutting-edge issues such as reform of government accounting regime, changes in accounting standards, and digital transformation of management accounting, but also includes comprehensive courses such as institutional economy analysis and the situation across the Taiwan Strait.
Accounting professor Jianfa Li, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President of Xiamen University, gave the first lecture themed on Reform of China’s Government Accounting. From the perspective of the combination of his own work experience and academic achievements, he explain the background, current situation and challenges of our country's government accounting reform. Professor Li gave his lecture in a simple way yet with deep meanings. He pointed out that the reform and development of public administration put forward a huge demand for the establishment of government accounting regime, and the reform of government accounting is urgently needed.
Professor Shijun Sang of the accounting department gave a detailed lecture to the trainees on the subject of Financial Statement Presentation and Analysis after the Latest Changes in Enterprise Accounting Standards. Based on the latest standard setting issues such as contract assets and liabilities, operating leases, Professor Shijun Sang explained the impact of the revision of these standards. After that, professor Sang introduced his unique financial statements analysis methods combined with cases of listed companies, one of which is the strategy-based financial analysis framework.
Professor Xiaoning Long, from the Department of Economics, the Changjiang Distinguished Professor appointed by the Ministry of Education, shared her thinking on the Economic Analysis of Institutions and its Applications in Accounting with the trainees. Professor Long explained the links and associations between economics and accounting, and pointed out the similarities between them. She then further analyzed the economic principles about voluntary and mandatory financial disclosure based on the Coase Theorem in institutional economics.
Professor Yuanlue Fu, Deputy Director of the Center for Accounting Studies, gave a lecture on Digital Transformation of Management Accounting and Intelligent MA. Professor Fu explained the reasons for the digital transformation of management accounting, and pointed out the future direction of theory research on intelligent MA and its reform. He guided the trainees to think about the development and challenges of intelligent management accounting applications.
Professor Fei Li from the Graduate Institute for Taiwan Studies of Xiamen University gave a keynote speech on Current Situation of Taiwan Strait and future directions in Cross-Strait Relations. Professor Li systematically sorted out the central government's strategy on Taiwan from the Tang Dynasty to the present, which laid a foundation for understanding of the history of, current situation and future of the Taiwan issue. He pointed out that the current Taiwan issue should be viewed with a critical perspective, a multi-dimensional perspective, and an objective attitude.
The three-day courses of this training for accounting leading experts are rich in content and covered various frontier issues in accounting. The trainees appreciated and impressed by the lecturers’ lively and vivid teaching. More importantly, the successful completion of this training program demonstrates the important role of Center for Accounting Studies in promoting the transformation of scientific research accomplishments and in undertaking important social services like cultivating high-quality accounting experts.
