Professor Xiaohui Qu was elected as the vice president of China Cost Research Society and gave a keynote speech at the conference

The 7th Member Congress of the China Cost Research Society was held in Beijing on September 22, 2018. This conference was organized by China Cost Research Society and undertaken by Capital University of Economics and Business. The China Cost Research Society is a national first-level society, affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Professor Peiyong Gao, who is the sixth chairman of the China Cost Research Society, the vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the member of the academic department, and the director of the Institute of Economics, and the President of Capital University of Economics and Professor Zhifeng of Capital University of Economics and Business delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Professor Zengbiao Yu of Tsinghua University, the vice chairman of China Cost Research Society presided over the work report and general election. The conference reviewed and approved the work report and financial report of the sixth board of directors, voted on the revised draft of the articles of association, elected the seventh board of directors, executive directors, president, vice presidents and secretary general, and invited four experts to do the theme reports. Professor Dexu He, the seventh president of the China Cost Research Society and the dean of the Institute of Financial Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, made a speech at the conference. Professor Xiaohui Qu of our center was elected as the vice president and was invited to give a theme report entitled "On the Expansion of Cost Category" at the conference. Professor Qu discussed the concepts and issues of cost from different perspectives, including cost from financial statements, cost from management, and cost from value discovery. She also talked about the rise of off-balance sheet cost items and the new challenges facing cost allocation. It is recommended to explore new areas of cost from strategically-oriented value creation. Professor Qu believes that if we systematically and deeply study cost issues from the perspective of macroeconomics and economic theory, we can expect to obtain important original results. Therefore, Professor Qu believes that cost is a category that goes beyond accounting and is worthy of in-depth study.
