Review the academic thought of our predecessors and build a platform for communication——A Summary of the 2022 Annual meeting of the Management Accounting Committee of the Chinese Accounting Society and the centenary meeting of Professor Yu Xuying

The 2022 annual meeting of the Management Accounting Committee of the Chinese Accounting Association and the centenary meeting of Professor Yu Xuying were held at Xiamen University a few days ago.

The purpose of this academic annual meeting is to promote the research and development of management accounting in China, review Professor Yu Xuying's thoughts on management accounting, build a platform for integrating academic wisdom and industry experience, and promote theoretical discussion and experience exchange.

Inherit and Develop

Professor Li Jianfa, former executive deputy secretary of the party committee of Xiamen University and dean of the School of Management, presided over the opening ceremony. The attendees reviewed Professor Yu Xuying's successful life via video to commemorate his outstanding contribution to the development of accounting in China.

Zhang Zongyi, president of Xiamen University, said that we should follow Professor Yu Xuying as an example, strive to train high-level accounting talents for economic and social development, and contribute Xiamen to the development of China's accounting discipline.

Zhu Guangyao, president of the Chinese Accounting Society, said that the Management Accounting Committee of the Chinese Accounting Association is innovative and pioneering, has achieved fruitful results, and has made an important contribution to the enhancement of the international influence of China's management accounting. Professor Yu Xuying's lifelong pursuit and exploration have left rich research achievements for future generations.

Gu Huizhong, vice president of the China Accounting Association and director of the Management Accounting Committee of the China Accounting Association, said that Professor Yu Xuying is a pioneer and founder of management accounting in China. He has made indelible contributions to the establishment and development of China's management accounting discipline. He hopes that the experts attending the meeting will learn from Professor Yu Xuying's spirit of combining "bringing in" and "going out", based on China's management practice and innovation, and teaching and educating people to serve the development of the motherland. Let the theoretical research and practical application of management accounting in China enter a new stage.

Du Xingqiang, director of the Accounting Department of the School of Management of Xiamen University, said that Professor Yu Xuying was one of the earliest scholars in China to introduce and develop western accounting theories. Relevant academic ideas are still shining today. The best way to remember Professor Yu Xuying is to inherit and develop his academic thoughts.

Exchange and Collision

Guo Daoyang, former president of the Chinese Accounting Professors' Association and professor of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, said that Professor Yu Xuying is upright and clean, insists that teaching by example is more important than teaching, and lays a solid foundation for the training of talents in China's management accounting discipline. He is an example and model for generations of Chinese accounting scholars.

Professor Sun Zheng, former vice president of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, believes that his generation of young scholars grew up learning from Professor Yu Xuying's teaching materials and was deeply influenced by his academic thoughts and academic ideas. They will follow Professor Yu Xuying's footsteps in the development of China's management accounting theory and practice in the new era.

Wang Huacheng, vice chairman of the National Postgraduate Education Steering Committee for Accounting majors and professor at the Renmin University of China, expressed his respect and admiration for Professor Yu Xuying and cherished his outstanding contribution to management accounting in China. He would like to thank Professor Yu Xuying for his care and support for young students and his support for the construction and development of management accounting at the Renmin University of China.

Lv Changjiang, vice president and professor of the School of Management of Fudan University, recalled his experience growing up under the guidance of Professor Yu Xuying when he was studying at Xiamen University and praised Professor Yu Xuying as a noble and knowledgeable teacher. His upright spirit and academic independence have had a far-reaching impact on him.

Liang Ping, director of China Affairs of the International Institute of Certified Public Accountants, said that in the era of the digital economy, management accounting plays a significant role in providing innovative talents in line with international standards and providing a solid talent foundation for the digital transformation of enterprises. He believes that we should learn from Professor Yu Xuying's feelings about family and country, the spirit of scholarship, academic thought, way of life and style, based on their respective positions and reality, and make due contributions to the development of management accounting with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

The theme of this annual meeting is "Modern Management Accounting empowers Enterprise Organization and Social and Economic Development". The experts at the meeting gave 10 keynote speeches and reports from the perspectives of the transformation and development of business, the training of management accounting talents, the practical application of management accounting concepts, and the promotion of sustainable development of enterprises, focusing on the development trend of digital technology in the new era. Combined with the application practice of leading enterprises, this paper expounds the thinking on how management accounting serves the development of the new era.

In addition, five parallel forums were held at the annual meeting. The participants took "Yu Xuying academic thought Symposium", "Research on the Theory and Application of enabling High-quality Development of Modern Management Accounting", "Research on Financial Transformation and Innovation of Management Accounting in the era of Digital economy", "Research on the Application of Management Accounting Innovation" and "Research on the Development and Application of Management Accounting under the epidemic" as the theme of exchange and discussion.
