On April 12, 2023, in order to strengthen interdisciplinary research, the "Accounting + Economic History" interdisciplinary Symposium organized by the Key research base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, the Accounting Development Research Center of Xiamen University (referred to as the "Accounting Center") was held in Conference Room 502, 5th floor, Chengfeng Building. Attending the symposium were: Professor Chen Zhiping, Dean of the Institute of Chinese Studies of Xiamen University; Dr. Sun Baohou, President of China Audit Society; Professor Liu Feng, Associate Professor Liu Xinming, Associate Professor Li Maoliang, Assistant Professor Meng Qingxi and Assistant Professor Chen Lu, Accounting Center; Chen Xiaoqi, Assistant Professor, Institute of Financial Management and Accounting; and Chen Xueying PhD student, Liu Chong PhD student, Xia Zhongxing, Tu Yuze and Yang Ziyue more than 10 people. Professor Liu Feng, Director of the Accounting Center and Department of Accounting, School of Management, chaired the symposium.

At the symposium, Professor Liu Feng first welcomed the arrival of Professor Chen Zhiping and pointed out the original intention of holding the symposium, hoping that young teachers can communicate with scholars of different disciplines, so as to provide interesting perspectives for accounting research. From the perspective of economic history, Professor Chen Zhiping shared the changes in the connotation of words such as directors and companies, and pointed out the great significance of popularizing economic history. Professor Chen also had an in-depth discussion with Professor Liu Feng, Dr Sun Baohou and young teachers on whether the spirit of contract in China is weak.
