Professor Xu Yanhui and Dr. Lai Dongpeng from the School of Sociology and Anthropology, Professor Chen Jiguang from the Department of Management, Professor Liu Feng, Li Shengnan, Liu Yuanyuan, Meng Qingxi, Guo Rui, Li Maoliang, Chen Xiaoqi from the Center for Accounting Studies, and PhD students, a total of 52 people attended this lecture.
Since the start of the lecture, through the exchange of feedback with young scholars, it is believed that sociology, as a window to observe different phenomena, can often bring more inspiration to scholars, so this issue especially invited Professor Xu Yanhui to introduce social change and change identity. Professor Liu Feng pointed out that doing research should first understand the content of each discipline and then think about its intersection with one's own discipline, and he looked forward to expanding the direction of everyone's research through interdisciplinary exchanges.

Professor Xu Yanhui first introduced the manifestations and root causes of social change. Social change refers to the state change of all social phenomena, involving politics, economy, culture, religion, education, lifestyle, social mentality and other aspects of social life. Social development is closely related to social change, so the goal of sociology scholars' research is more to explain the evolutionary logic and dynamic mechanism of social change. In terms of the content of social change, Professor Xu Yanhui summarizes the following aspects with reference to the book "Social Development Trends in the United States", namely, population, family, class structure, religious beliefs, government and governance, etc. Social change is the result of a combination of factors, and the relevant discussions mainly include technology, conflict and competition, economy, demographic changes, ideology, power of elites, values, etc.
Then, Professor Xu Yanhui introduced several theoretical perspectives for studying social change. In terms of the dynamics of social development and social change, it mainly includes conflict theory and cultural theory. In terms of the direction of social development and social change, it can be divided into evolutionary theory and circular theory. Meanwhile, in terms of change itself, there are social transformation theory and market transformation theory.

Then, Professor Xu Yanhui discussed the issue of social transformation and national identity change with her working paper. By observing the different socio-economic functions of identity, Professor Xu Yanhui used the Age-Period-Cohort (APC) analysis method in conjunction with the social transformation theory and found that the national identity of Chinese residents showed a stable upward trend with age. However, it showed a certain downward trend with the change of period. The results of the quantitative analysis reveal the possible influence of social justice on national identity, and the importance of a reasonable distribution system and a sound social security system in preventing "social tearing" in the country.

At the end of the lecture, Professor Xu Yanhui and the online and offline teachers and students had a communication and discussion. The lecture was successfully concluded!
