---Discussion with Prof. Katherine Schipper and Prof. C.S. Agnes Cheng Time: 3:00—5:00 PM , July 12 (Wednesday) Venue: Room 513, Jiageng Building 2 Chairperson: Prof. Sun Qian Biodata of: 1. Katherine Schipper: Dr. Schipper holds a B.A. degree from the University of Dayton and M.B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago.  She was appointed to the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), effective September 2001.  Prior to joining the FASB, she was the L. Palmer Fox Professor of Business Administration at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.  Dr. Schipper has also taught at the University of Chicago, where she was the Eli B. and Harriet B. Williams Professor of Accounting, KPMG Peat Marwick Faculty Research Scholar and Director of the Institute of Professional Accounting.  Dr. Schipper has published research papers on a range of accounting, finance and corporate governance topics, and has been the recipient of several grants and awards, including the American Accounting Association’s Outstanding Educator.  She has served the American Accounting Association as President,  as Director of Research, and as President of the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section.  From 1985 to 1999, she was the editor of the Journal of Accounting Research. 2. C.S. Agnes Cheng : Dr. Cheng received her Ph.D. degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1983.  She joined the University of Houston in 1986 and visited the University of Arkansas from 1999 to 2000.  She was a visiting scholar to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 2004-2005.  She has published a research monograph and numerous articles in journals such as Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, Decision Sciences, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of International Business Studies, Accounting and Business Research, and Journal of Management Accounting Research among others.  She has also served on numerous editorial advisory and review boards such as The Accounting Review, The Review of Business Studies, International Journal of Business, The International Journal of Accounting, and Management Accounting Research and Review of Pacific Basin Financial Markets and Policies (RPBFMP) among others.  She has served as a Vice-President of the American Accounting Association and she currently serve as the Vice-President-International Conference of International Association of Accounting for Education and Research (IAAER).
